Founded in 2012, Greensboro New School was built by teachers and parents committed to a new vision for preschool education. As a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we opened our doors with a shared belief that early childhood education should honor the whole child and nurture a lifelong love of learning.
Our approach draws from the best of Montessori, Waldorf, and Reggio Emilia traditions, blended with our own deep commitment to individual attention and growth. We are both educators and parents who truly love teaching. We bring our experience, knowledge, and passion into the classroom each day to create a thoughtful, engaging environment where young children feel valued, capable, and inspired.
We are building a school where children are excited to learn—where the school adapts to meet the needs of each learner, rather than molding students to fit the school. As a multi-aged program serving children ages 2½ to 6 years old, we work with every child at their own developmental level, supporting academic, social, and emotional growth.
Our school year runs from late August through early June. The school day is from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., five days a week, with families choosing a schedule of 3, 4, or 5 days per week to best meet their needs.
We proudly welcome families in all their diverse forms without regard to disability, economic status, linguistic background, race, culture, religion, or sexual orientation. At Greensboro New School, every child and every family belongs.
What Do Parents & Alumni Have To Say?
"I chose Greensboro New School for my child for many reasons. I appreciated that children of all ages of pre-school were mixed; my son interacted with both older, younger, and same aged children which helped him to develop his social skills. The focus of the school was on the socialization of children and becoming independent thinkers and empowered problem solvers. The teachers guided the children to resolve conflict on their own, and only intervened when necessary. I appreciated that there were almost never any worksheets--the lessons were creative and open ended. Lastly, it was important to me that my child be encouraged to be a good citizen and person without religious indoctrination. I would definitely recommend this pre-school and if I had other children, I would send them here!"
